Tyre rotation
Tyre rotation done in your driveway
Front tyres on most UAE cars wear out well before the rears. Rotating them on schedule evens the wear so the whole set lasts longer.

Tyre rotation
The short answer
800 Tyres rotates your tyres free during any fitting visit, or for AED 100 as a standalone visit at your location. Rotation moves each wheel to a new position so the four tyres wear evenly. Most cars benefit from rotation about every 10,000 km.
Why tyres wear unevenly
Each corner of a car does a different job. On a front-wheel-drive Camry, Corolla, Sunny or Altima, the front tyres steer, put down all the engine's power and carry most of the braking force. They wear out much faster than the rears, which mostly just follow along. On a rear-wheel-drive Patrol or BMW, the rear tyres drive while the fronts take the steering and much of the braking.
UAE driving adds its own patterns. Tight turns in mall car parks and roundabouts scrub the outer shoulders of the front tyres. Long highway runs between Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi heat the tread evenly but put more load on the driven axle. Left alone, one pair reaches the replacement point while the other still has plenty of tread.
Rotation patterns by drivetrain
| Car type | Pattern | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Front-wheel drive | Fronts straight back; rears cross to opposite front | Camry, Corolla, Sunny, Accord |
| Rear-wheel drive and most 4x4s | Rears straight forward; fronts cross to opposite rear | Patrol, Land Cruiser, Hilux, BMW 3 Series |
| All-wheel drive | X-pattern: each wheel moves diagonally | RAV4 AWD, Subaru, Audi quattro |
| Directional tyres | Front to back on the same side only | Many performance tyres; check the arrow on the sidewall |
| Staggered (wider rears) | Side to side only, if tyres are non-directional | BMW M models, Mercedes AMG, Porsche |
Cars with a full-size matching spare, common on older Land Cruisers and pickups, can include the spare in a five-tyre rotation, which spreads the wear across all five and keeps the spare's tread in step with the rest.
How often to rotate
About every 10,000 km is a good rule for most cars, or every second oil change. Look for these signs that it is overdue:
- The front tyres look visibly more worn than the rears, or the other way round.
- One shoulder of a tyre is noticeably more worn than the centre.
- The car feels slightly less settled than when the tyres were new.
If one edge of a tyre is far more worn than the other, rotation alone will not fix it, because the cause is usually alignment. Get that checked first; see our wheel alignment service.
What happens during a rotation visit
- The technician checks tread depth on each tyre and notes any uneven wear.
- The car is lifted and the wheels moved to their new positions using the correct pattern for your drivetrain and tyres.
- If you feel any vibration at speed, wheels can be rebalanced on the van's balancer at AED 25 per wheel.
- Wheel nuts are torqued by hand to the maker's figure.
- Pressures are set to the door-placard values. Some cars specify different front and rear pressures, so this step matters after a swap.
- On cars with TPMS, the sensors are relearned to their new positions where the car requires it.
Free with fitting, AED 100 on its own
Rotation is included free whenever we are already at your car for a fitting visit: a puncture repair, new pair of tyres or spare change. If you only need a rotation, the standalone visit is AED 100 and we come to your home, office or basement car park, 24 hours a day. Combining it with a tyre pressure check or other job makes the most of the visit.
Rotation and new tyres
When only two new tyres are fitted, they normally go on the rear axle, whatever the drivetrain. Grip at the back keeps the car stable if the road is wet or a tyre loses pressure, and a car that slides from the rear is far harder to control than one that runs wide at the front. That is why rotation often happens during a tyre fitting visit anyway: the newer pair goes to the back, the part-worn pair moves forward. After a full set of four, starting rotations from the first 10,000 km keeps all four wearing at the same rate until they are replaced together. For the wider routine, our tyre maintenance guide covers tread checks, age and sun damage.
Rotation cannot bring back tread that is already gone. If the front pair is close to 3 mm, it is usually better to fit two new tyres on the rear and move the better rears to the front.

What UAE drivers say
-
Khalid Al Mansoori MirdifFlat tyre on the Patrol at 11 pm outside the house. Technician was there in 35 minutes, had the right 20-inch tyre in the van and finished in half an hour. Price was exactly what they told me on WhatsApp.
-
Priya Raman JLTBooked a set of four Michelins for my CR-V. They fitted them in the basement of my building while I was on calls. Showed me the manufacture date on each tyre before fitting, which nobody has ever done for me.
-
Mark Dela Cruz Al Nahda, SharjahScrew in my tyre on a Friday morning. They plugged it in the car park, checked the other three and set the pressures. AED 80, done in 20 minutes.
-
Sarah Whitfield Arabian RanchesPaid with Tabby for new tyres on the Range Rover — split into four, no interest. The guy was careful with the wheels and left the driveway cleaner than he found it.
Common questions
Common questions
How much does tyre rotation cost in Dubai?
It is free during any fitting visit, or AED 100 as a standalone visit at your location in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah.
How often should I rotate my tyres?
About every 10,000 km for most cars. Front-wheel-drive cars that do a lot of city driving benefit from sticking closely to that interval.
Can I rotate tyres on a car with wider rear tyres?
Only side to side, and only if the tyres are non-directional. Staggered setups cannot swap front to rear.
Do I need balancing after rotation?
Not usually, since each wheel and tyre move together. If you feel vibration after rotation, a wheel was probably already out of balance and we can fix it on the spot.
Flat tyre? A technician can be on the way in minutes.
Send your location and a photo of the tyre sidewall. We'll confirm the price and arrival time straight away — 24 hours a day.
