Check your spare before you need it

Most spares we see in Dubai are underinflated by 10–20 psi and some are over ten years old, especially in second-hand cars. Lift the boot floor once a month and check two things: the pressure (space-savers usually need 60 psi — the value is on the sidewall) and the four-digit DOT date. A spare over six years old should be replaced even if it has never touched the road.

Full-size, space-saver or none

• Full-size spare. Common on SUVs and pickups — Land Cruiser, Patrol, Prado, Hilux. Ideally rotate it into your set so all five tyres age evenly.
• Space-saver. A narrow temporary wheel on most sedans and hatchbacks. Max 80 km/h, about 80 km of driving. Get the main tyre repaired or replaced quickly.
• No spare (run-flats or repair kit). BMW, Mini, many Mercedes and Teslas. If you'd rather carry a spare for desert trips or long drives to Oman, we can supply a space-saver wheel that fits your hub.

Buying a car spare tyre in Dubai

Give us the make, model and year, or the size printed on the current spare. For a full-size spare we match it to your other four tyres where possible — on 4x4s that matters for the differentials if the spare ends up in use for a long time. Space-saver kits include the wheel, tyre, jack and wheel brace when your car was originally sold without them.

Spares for desert and long-distance driving

If you go to Liwa, Al Qudra or Fossil Rock, carry a full-size spare, a working compressor and a deflator. A space-saver is no use in sand. We can fit an all-terrain spare and check your jack and recovery points before a trip.
